Content Specification

Refugee / IDP mapping products show, with the most relevant scale, a variety of information associated with the current status of refugees/IDP camps. These maps can be linked to refugee camps, known and installed for years in a given theatre.
In this case, an update of the mapping products on a regular basis can be used for population estimation and can highlight an increase in the camp size, with consequence effects upon safety, water and fuel resources. The products can also highlight the quick and uncontrolled formation and expansion of disorganised settlements. Perhaps small in the beginning or in an area too close to the crisis centre or inappropriately located for ready access by international support and aid.

Scale, Area

• Scale: 1:10,000 – 1:50,000.
• Area: 38 - 970 km²

Output formats

Standard ouput formats are:

• Digital maps (jpg, tif, pdf) incl. world-file and KMZ-file.
  • Standard print size: DIN A1;
  • On demand print size: DIN A3.
• Vector data (shapefile).

Accuracy

• Geometric accuracy: 5 pixel for 1m data, up to 1 pixel for >100m data.
• Thematic accuracy: > 75%

Delivery Time

Within 30 working days after satellite data reception.
