Catalogue panel

The right panel is the catalogue search panel which is used to search products from existing catalogues using several search options. The following Figure 3-10 shows the search panel with its search options

Figure 3‑10: Catalog panel

The first option group is the Alphanumeric or “free text” one which allows the user to insert any text to be searched in metadata fields. Basically when a user insert a text (normally a single word) into the “Any Text” text input the search is performed on all the fields of the metadata while when the user insert a text in Title and Description, the search is performed only on these fileds of the metadata (which could speed up the search results and refine the search to only the effecltively desired layers).

The second option is the Bounding Box option which allows the user (if the checkbox is checked) to query only on the geographical bounding box which is currently shown on the map.

The third option is the pagination parameter which can be defined in order to have less or more records on a same list of records (see later for example screenshot of record list).

The last option available now is the selection of catalogues to be searched. By clicking on the checkboxes, it is possible to search from multiple catalogues (in Figure 3-10 some example catalogue are shown only for testing purposes). It has to be noted that all users (End User and National Focal Point User) will have access to all the functionalities on the local catalogue but only the National Focal Point will have access to other catalogues in terms of download and visualisation functionalities (of course they can be activated by the NFP to be consumed also by the End User). This because the role of the NFP is essentially to select only those products that really are useful to the End User and to allow the user to access and visualise only them.

Once selected all the options, the user can click on search button in order to perform the catalogue queries. The result will be shown in a dynamically added panel on the bottom of the screen like the one shown in the following Figure 3-11.

Figure 3‑11: Search result panel is dynamically loaded when the user perform a search

The search result panel shows at the top of the panel the number of total results for a single catalogue (in this case 28 from a test G-MOSAIC catalog), then the tool for selecting the page of result (in this case example is from 1 to 3 because the search pagination option was 10) and then the list of products with the “Title” field and the “Description” field. Moreover from each entry it is possible to activate the following functionalities:

  • Add: used to add the WMS service (if available) directly to the Map
  • Download: used to download the product (in the original format) locally
  • Zoom To: used to zoom to the area of interest of the product
  • View Metadata: used to view the complete Metadata

NOTE: in the current release, as from the unavailability of ERS core services, some of the functionalities like Add and Download could be not accessible.
