GMES Emergency Response Service toolbox

The GMES Emergency Response Service toolbox is a web application that supports the integration of GMES ERS geo-information products into the operational workflow of the End Users by supporting the work of the local National / EC user Focal Point who is the entity in charge of the link between GMES Emergency Response Service products and their final use by the End Users.

This general architecture can be summarised with the following scheme.

The toolbox modules

The GMES Emergency Response Service Toolbox is composed by different modules:

• Ordering module:
  • to submit a request to your National / EC user Focal Point if you are an End User ("Request a new product" tab);
  • to manage (accept / reject / combine) different request from different End Users if you are a National / EC user Focal Point ("Manage users orders" tab).
  • to activate the GMES Emergency Response Service if you are a National / EC user Focal Point ("Activate ERS" tab).

• Catalogue and discovery module ("Browse catalogue" tab):
  • this module allows both National / EC user Focal Point and End Users to browse the GMES Emergency Response Service catalogue and find existing products they might be interested in, as well as the mapping products they might have requested in an activation.

• View and tailoring module ("Browse catalogue" tab):
  • this module allows both National / EC user Focal Point and End Users to view selected products in a map context, download them and apply specific customization options (change map reference system, change format).

• Monitoring module ("Monitor ERS" tab):
  • to provide a synthetic overview about the usage of the GMES Emergency response Service toolbox (total number of activations, time intervals between activation submission and product reception, etc.).

• Help module ("?" tab):
  • to provide generic information about the GMES Emergency Response Service such as a Reference guide, the Product Portfolio specifications, this WIKI itself and some contact information.

The toolbox users profiles

There are different users profiles to access and use the toolbox:

• Administrator: all privileges to operate on the toolbox and change configuration settings;
• National / EC user Focal Point: access to all modules and privilege to activate GMES Emergency Response Service;
• End User: access to a limited number of modules and capability to submit a request for activation to the National / EC user Focal Point.
